Gingerbread Decorating: Chocolate-Dipped Snowflakes

Gingerbread snowflake cookies

As a continuation from the last post, here's how I used the rest of the leftover gingerbread dough!

For easy reference, this is the recipe my friend used for the dough. I rolled it out with my sister, and we went to town with a set of snowflake cookie cutters!

Once baked, we dipped most of them in chocolate :)
Just semisweet chocolate chips, microwaved at 20 second intervals and stirred until smooth, spread on the cookies by dipping or with the help of a spoon, and set on wax paper to cool. (For more shine and a thinner, more liquid texture, a bit of shortening or butter can be added to the chocolate while it is heating up. Don't let any water touch it though!)

For the smaller ones, I dipped some of the bottoms instead.

I love the look of plain gingerbread contrasting with chocolate!

I also love stacking cookies...

These cookies would be great for any winter occasion, especially if you're a fan of gingerbread and chocolate! With the vast amount of different cookie cutters out there, though, these could easily be customized for any number of occasions. The subtly sweet spice of this flavor combination, however, makes it great for any autumn or winter gifts and celebrations :)
